LaChrista "Egypt" born LaChrista Bowman is a native of Kentucky from the small town of Harrodsburg. She obtained a B.F.A. from Kentucky State University. While in KY she taught classes at the Community Art Center located in Danville. She is affiliated with the Zephyr gallery in Louisville, KY, and a member of the Gathering Artist Organization in Danville, KY. Her paintings have been on exhibit and display at numerous galleries and facilities. Many of her murals can been seen, inside as well as outside, businesses throughout Frankfort, Kentucky’s Capital. The awards she has received include: Frankfort Arts Foundation Fellowship; 10th Annual African American Art Exhibit Merit Award at The Actors Theatre in Louisville, KY; and The Virginia A. Brooks, (Arts and Sciences) Leadership Award at Kentucky State University among others. LaChrista Ellis presently lives in Atlanta, GA, and manages NAIO Gallery located in the East Atlanta Village. She creates beautiful artwork, teaches, and enjoys being a mother.
